De leur amitié de longue date, Anderson se gavait des descriptions et des récits détaillés des voyages à vélo que Peart avait fait à travers l’Afrique. Il a ensuite transposé sur toile avec tellement d’exactitude que visuellement tout paraissait vivant et à la fois déconcertant, qu’ Anderson s’en inspirera pour la trame de son nouveau bouquin forgé d’ une ambiance sombre et d’une troublante fantaisie du nom de » Drumbeats ».
C’est en 94, que l’édition originale est sortie et par la suite, ils ont décidé d’un commun accord de le rééditer. Une histoire d’horreur effroyable, de mélange d’âmes humaines et de tambours africains qu’ils ont écrit tous les deux en collaboration.
